What is RHJCP?
The Renewed Hope Job Creation Programme (RHJCP) is a social intervention programme of the Nigerian government that aims to create jobs and alleviate poverty among Nigerian youths. It was launched in October 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a successor to the N-Power programme.
The RHJCP is a 5-year programme that targets to create 5 million jobs for Nigerian youths aged 18-35. It will provide beneficiaries with training and stipends for a period of 12 months. After the training period, beneficiaries will be transited into permanent jobs or supported to start their own businesses.
The RHJCP has two streams: Graduate and Non-Graduate. The Graduate stream is for Nigerian youths who have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, while the Non-Graduate stream is for Nigerian youths who have a secondary school certificate or equivalent.
The RHJCP offers training in a variety of skills, including:
- Agriculture
- ICT
- Construction
- Creative arts
- Hospitality
- Education
- Healthcare
Beneficiaries of the RHJCP will receive a monthly stipend of ₦30,000 (approximately $75). They will also be provided with health insurance and other benefits.
The RHJCP is a welcome development for Nigerian youths. The country has a large youth population, with over 60% of the population under the age of 35. However, youth unemployment is a major problem in Nigeria. The RHJCP has the potential to create jobs and empower Nigerian youths to contribute to the country’s development.
The RHJCP is still in its early stages of implementation, but it has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of Nigerian youths. It is important to monitor the implementation of the programme and ensure that it is transparent and accountable
Updates on Payments
Starting from November, old N-Power workers will get their money. This was said by Akindele Egbuwalo, who leads the Hope Job Creation Programme. He said this in Abuja when he talked to N-Power workers. They will get their money bit by bit.
Why the Name Change?
Jamaluddeen Kabir from the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) told everyone about the name change. The N-Power had to stop for a short time. This was so that they could check all their records and money. Because of this check, they got back some money.
This money will help pay the old N-Power workers. Starting in November 2023, they will get their money bit by bit. The plan is also to make the RHJCP bigger. They want to help 5 million people get jobs in the next five years. Every year, they will help 1 million young people.
This is what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants. Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister, will watch over this.
